Beaded Hair Pin Instructions

Needed:
Beads
Small silk flower with wire attached
Head pin (found in craft stores in the jewelry making section)
Needle nose pliers
Wire cutters
Bobby pin
Glue (tacky glue or hot glue)

The head pin (with flat pin end) and bead. Here our bead of choice was a 4mm Austrian Crystal in Canary Yellow.
Thread the bead onto the headpin.
The flat end of the Headpin allows the bead from slipping off the wire.
Measure the length of the headpin, by placing it in the center of the flower. Then cut the pin to the desired length using wire cutters.
Add a small dab of glue to the end of the headpin.
Insert the head pin and bead into the center of the flower.
The way the bead and flower should look, as if the bead is the stamen protruding from the center of the flower.
Thread the wired end of the flower through the bobby pin, which is easily pried open with a finger.
Twist the wire around the top of the pin, until secure.
Clip the excess wire from the flower.
Bending down any extra wire with needle nose pliers.
The finished hairpin
The finished hairpins worn in an up do.

Note: Hairpins can also be done in small fresh flowers. Just bend a small piece of florist wire into a thin hairpin shape and insert it gently into the center of the flower. Floral tape the wires to the stem of the flower to strengthen it. Then proceed with the same procedure to create the beaded floral hairpin, using the fresh flower with wired stem in place of the silk flower.
