The flower girl, the bridesmaids, or the bride can wear this headpiece. It is the perfect compliment to a simple dress with few details and it helps to lend an air of romance.
Directions:
- Measure the circumference of the wearer's head (as for a headband, across the forehead) and add one inch.
- Next, measure that length of an 18-gauge straight floral wire (depending upon the size of the head you may need to join two wire together with floral tape) .Cut excess with sharp wire snips.
- Floral tape the two ends together to form a wreath shape.
- Once the wreath form is made to fit the size of the head, the flowers, greenery and filler, may be added. Cut flowers into small pieces, no larger than 1" with a 1” stem. Do the same with the greenery and the filler (tiny flowers such as: baby's breath, statice, etc.)
- Make a tiny boutonniere-type cluster by gathering a piece of greenery, a flower, and a small piece of filler into a cluster and taping it together. (To make the process faster, do all your clusters before assembling the wreath).
- Tape a cluster to the wire form, starting at the back point (usually where the wire ends were taped together). Again, tape another cluster on top of the stems of the last cluster, overlapping each other, to give a tight, compact, professional look.
- Continue this process slightly alternating, pointing flower heads to the left and then to the right (working from the outside of the wreath, inward), until the entire wreath is full and has a three dimensional look --not flat and one sided. Make sure that there are no gaps showing in the wreath, and that the flowers are tightly bunched together.
- Accessories such as ribbon may now be added. Start by tying ribbon off in the back of the wreath where a bow may be added or ribbon may be woven in and out of the flowers, around the circumference of the wreath.
Helpful Tip: If the wreath is too small, you can cut the wreath form and tape in a small piece of wire. If it is too big, clip a piece of the wire and remove it. If you are unsure of the wearer’s size, use an average circumference (see chart below), then leaving one end of the wreath open. Tape each end to a length of ribbon. This will allow the wreath to be “tied” on.
