Shoe String Bow Instructions

Just like the Basic Bow, the techniques for this bow, could not be simpler. Try experimenting with complimenting or contrasting fabrics to give you an elegant yet vibrant look!

Hold ribbon vertically facing you. Measure approximately in 12 inches from the end of the ribbon. This is where you will form two loops (one at the top and one at the bottom). Pinch the center together with one hand.
Using the free hand, pinch up the bottom loop crossing it over the center and wrapping it around the back of the top loop.
Continue to push the bottom loop through the whole that has now formed.
Pull the bottom loop through the whole until the knot is tight. Pull on the tails to adjust the size of the loops and to secure the knot. Trim ends.

Helpful Tip: Try finding the center of the ribbon before making your loops. If you originally determine the center it will to create nice even tails when finished. Also note that the amount of ribbon needed for this type of bow may vary depending upon the type of project it is being used for. It is always safe to start with a length of ribbon that is at least one yard long.
